The Way The Truth The Life

The Way The Truth The Life

John 14:6 (NKJV) 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

The Way The Truth The Life

We find these words of Jesus as He spoke to His disciples in the upper room before they went to the garden. These are transforming word.  Here, Jesus is declaring that He alone is “the Way, the truth, The life“ in response to Thomases’ question.

The Mercies of God

The Mercies Of God

The Mercy Of God

Could there be anything more important in our lives than the mercy of God? It is the key to our understanding of God’s work. Here in Lamentations we find Jeremiah with the same sentiment as the author in the book of Job.

Guarding Our hearts

Guarding Our Hearts

This admonition is in light of the illustration from vv. 7-10 taken from Psalm 95:7-11.  The warning here is to those who know the gospel, who affirm its truth but which, because of a love of sin, have not fully committed themselves to the truth they know is real.

Guarding Our Hearts

This is the real danger of the world around us.  There is a way that seems right but is outside of Christ.  Instead of listening to those who would draw us away from Christ, we need to seek the truth of His word and any real correction that may come from those within the Body of Christ.

God’s Word Purifies Our Hearts

God’s Word Purifies Our Hearts

The Biblical standard of every believer is to be one who purifies him or herself as God is pure.  But in the age in which we now live that seems to be a forgotten concept or goal.  There seems to be a strong desire among many to be just like the world that they had left, thinking it made themselves more relevant to the lost or at least not criticized.

But the problem is that even among the lost there is an understanding that holiness  whether it is Mormonism, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Hinduism, Judaism , or Christianity , God’s revelation in our consciousness and in the Scriptures bears witness to the fact that we need to be purified if we want life.

The True Blessing

The True Blessing

There is no greater reminder in all of Scripture that Romans 4:1-8.  Here the apostle Paul reminds us that our salvation is a work of God whereby we are justified not on account of works but rather by faith in Christ.

The True Blessing

We may have something to revel in through the flesh but not before God.

Romans 4:2 (ESV) 2 For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God.

How Does the Gospel Affect Your Everyday Life?

How does the gospel fffect your everyday life?

In Colossians 3:16 God’s word is to dwell in us. In other words , God’s Word is to dwell in the believer as we study, meditate and apply His word to our lives.   It is to become a permanent abiding part of our lives.

How Does the Gospel Affect Your Everyday Life

It feeds us, cleanses us, admonishes us, directs how we live, and develops Christ-like character in each of us as we allow His word to dwell in us richly. Here, the “word of Christ refers to the Word of God. It is to dwell in us richly, teaching us.

A Biblical Love

A Biblical Love

The Judaizers of Paul’s day had come to Galatia with a new message that in reality wasn’t new at all. They were critical of the freedom the Galatians were experiencing in Christ.

A Biblical Love

Their message was, “it’s great you found Christ but you must add the works of the Law to be fully complete in Him. But Pual reminds these believers to stand firm in their freedom in Christ.

Our Completed Salvation

Our Completed Salvation

Paul’s prayer for the Philippian believers was one of confidence. Philippians 1:6 is more than a text regarding the security of the believer.

Our Completed Salvation

It points to the fact that no matter how much we fail, despite life’s uncertainties and difficulties, no matter how many spiritual defeats we may encounter along the way, one day the believer in Jesus Christ will be made perfect.

Trusting The God Who Loves Us

Trusting the God Who Loves Us.

How often have you been in a place where you are telling yourself you can’t do it or you’re in the wrong place. But there you are, cast down preaching a gospel of defeat into your life.  There you are like the Psalmist questioning yourself.

Trusting The God Who Loves Us

Psalm 42:5 (ESV) 5 Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? ….
